Default [Very Beta] ZClock

Hey all, I took a game I found somewhere on here called collapse and turned it into a clock complete with the current date. Since the time zone the zune is on isn't always your timezone you can change the current hour by pressing up on the zune pad(should work for 30s too but can't test it) to increase it or down to decrease. Unfortunately I haven't looked into saving files onto the zune from within a game so I can't make the change permenant, you'll have to change it every time you launch it which I realize makes it almost worthless except as a proof-of-concept which is exactly what it's supposed to be. Enjoy!

Hmm... if this does work, when you exit the clock it would be handy to go back to the menu instead of restarting the Zune device...

Sweet! Mind uploading it as a .zip also?

Why would they ban clocks?

im sorry but WTF! why would they ban the clock. Just because the didn't put one on the zune themselves doesn't mean they don't want one on their, it just means they don't want to copy the ipod in any way, and have a clock. It is a music device after all.

Hopefully by the time that XNA 3.0 Release version rolls around, you can get an alarm in their. Play our music for the alarm when playing of music is allowed. Need to make sure that zune is plugged in though, otherwise it will just fall asleep.

Also, you wouldn't mind posting a link to this collapse, as i cant find it anywhere

Is there a way to fix it so it is the right time (it is an hour behind for me, I live on the Pacific coast)

at the moment there is no way to save the hour difference in this program, as he has not figured out how to implement the save feature. If you had read his whole post, you would have see that

You can probably just use the File class and a FileStream to read/write the data you need to save. StorageContainer.TitleLocation will give you the directory your game resides in for passing to the File call

consider editing the source code to involve simple maths to modify it to your own time zone so you don't have to worry. Other than that, I find it to be quite pleasing to know that the clock is working.

hmm I tried just opening a file for writing and it crashes... maybe we don't have permission to write to the harddrive? That seems strange to me but I don't know why else it would do that...

Alright, after some more poking around I got an Exception saying just "UnauthorizedAccessException" so it looks like we don't have permission to write to the hard drive? That seems really weird but ya.

the XNA fAQ said we would though. are you writing XML data, because that is what is specified in terms of save data. May not be possible on the CTP
