The average is no where near 8... it's between 5.5 and 6, last I checked.

I would pay attention to your girth (that's the distance around). After 4.5 inches in length, the girth is what matters. The average there is somewhere around 4.5, but if you're larger, then women will like that. Also, it's definitely more about how you use it. But like everyone has stated, it's how you develop. Guy's penises don't stop growing until 20-21.
