I actually just got certified in early March, the tests weren't too bad. I had a lot of repeat questions between the A+ Essentials and A+ IT Technician (220-602) exams. I would say just get a book and review the silly stuff that they will ask you. You get 90 minutes per exam, the Essentials had 100 questions I think and the IT Tech had 90. I finished both of them with around 30-40 minutes left. Which exams do you plan to take, 602, 603 or 604?

Alright, but you have to take 2 to become A+ certified, you know that right?

I've actually got my A+ cert, Network+, Security+, and CCNA and I'm working on my MCSE and out of all those A+ was the easiest one to pass... I passed all the CompTIA tests on my first try with minimal studying and I failed my CCNA the first time because I was honestly expecting a CompTIA style test... that sucked. I had to pay to take another test... I say go for it... The hardest part about it is all the ridiculous questions they ask about computer systems from like 10 years ago that aren't really relevant anymore

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.[/

True story. I'm going to take the Network+ test in a few weeks, I can't wait!

I think out of all the CompTIA test I've taken Net+ was the most difficult. It is still asking questions about token ring topologies... When was the last time you even heard that term let alone seen a token ring network in place? Granted it's been over a year since I took mine so they might have changed the test around a bit but I doubt it...

The Net+ test is still from 05 so it's probably the same, I'm not too worried about the test because I've got a feel for it now since I passed the A+ ones.

Yeah but like I said there are a lot of questions on there about technologies that are obsolete. There are a lot of questions on there about cross platform networks. I hope you know Novell and Unix and Linux and.... because they ask all those questions. They're going to ask questions about sh!t like NetBeui/NetBios, IPX/SPX.. all this crap that is completely irrelevant anymore. It's ridiculous

From the CompTIA website

A+ certification is a vendor neutral certification that certifies the competency of service professionals in the computer industry. It is for anyone who wants an internationally recognized credential that validates competency in computer service and technical support.

it's basically a certification that lets people know that you know how to take a computer apart and you understand how a computer works.

And that you are able to diagnose computer problems.

right... I just assumed that by understanding how a computer works that diagnosing problems went hand in hand with that...
