How to make this not completely akward

So I have a prom date, but I don't have her phone # and didn't have the chance to get it since i was in Chicago for the past few days and I want to ask her on a date during spring break next week but can't since I don't have her #. I could ask her close friend for the number but I have a feeling she doesn't know I am going to Prom with my prom date and she can't go to prom since she is a sophmore, but I am taking her close sophmore friend who I want to ask on a date.

What do I do?

I would just ask the friend. Get close to the friend because girls always go to their best friends first for advice on guys and everything.

Idk if this would work, but you could simply tell the friend your thinking of asking out her friend(your prom date) and ask for her #. She doesn't have to know your going to prom, but you'd get teh # and you could explain wat happened to your date when you call...

Trogdor, if you want to be secretive and stuff like that you would just have to steal the phone of the friend of the girl you want to ask out, and take her number down, and then the next day you just return it to her or some lost and found place and claim that you found it on the ground. And if this seems impossible then ask to borrow her phone and steal the number and claim that you get no service where you are. I think this works best in lunchrooms.
If that doesn't work for you then you just ask the friend of the girl you wanna ask out that I would like her number cause (*some girl needs to talk to her and she forgot her number some how). But you gotta approach this with confidence and calmness, if you look nervous then it would most likely seem like you are tryin' to pull something and she might hold back.
But I'm hoping the previous choice works for you.

Sounds like the most reasonable. Just tell her friend that your phone started acting weird and erased all of your contacts. You need to get her friends number because you don't have it anymore. Perfectly believable.

Its really simple: Say I have bad service here let me use your phone real quick. That sounds reasonable sure. Then use her phone to find the adress phone book and take the girl you wanna date # down in your cell phone, then if you don't wanna pretend that you are on the phone, just say that the person you wanted to call isn't picking up. Then you give the back the phone. Chick doesn't even have to know that Trogdor even needed her friends #, simply hustlin'.

I don't see any flaws in it, but seeing as I'm a guy and you're a female, I'll let you have this one

. I think she would notice someone going through her contacts, though. Unless he managed to do it out of sight.

No its simple to go through contacts; like a snap of fingers.
And he could get away with it unless the chick is over his shoulders looking at him and the phones and don't nobody do that unless she didn't like Trogdor.
And from the way he type they all sound like friends for now.
She should be trustworthy.

You could just man up and ask her friend. I mean, its not a big deal to ask for a number.
Then again, high school drama, she might make a deal of it. Then again, girls are more mature than guys in high school...still immature compared to what they will be in their mid 20's, but more so than guys at any point in life haha.

Just facebook/myspace one of her friends, even if you don't know the friend really well, just ask and say your phone broke because you dropped it, you now have a new one, and you lost her number on your old phone. Simple.
