i recently(couple of hours ago) completed a small speaker set and used a nes controller for the casing
here it is ![]() the speakers are under the holes by the logo and in the d-pad the speakers are from a radio headset that I broke and they were a perfect fit but they are meant to be on someones head so the zune needs to be set a 20 most of the time

ok legato i took an old controller disesembled it hollowed it broke a old radio headset
and found the speakers were a great fit then took an old pair of broken headphones cut the speakers off, stripped the wires, and soldered the speakers to the wires be careful not to ground your speaker by having the wire touching any other spot than the speaker input also epoxying the sauter in between helps sometimes then I drilled holes in the d-pad with a drill press equiped with a measuring machine then did the same pattern by the nintendo logo but angled you can probably just mark the back and do the same thing with a cordless drill in a vice then i took the nes controller motherboard and cut of the wires and the d-pad for the speaker to fit then ductaped everything inside so it would be snug and led the headphone wire out the spot where the cable came from then rescrewed the controller together and voila yet this still wasnt as cool as the NES Mp3 player or Genisis controller mp3 player

Unless you buy a kit, or REALLY know what you're doing, you still need very good soldering skills and some basic modding skills. Otherwise, you will get nowhere.
