I never said gay marriage's inability to procreate was a disadvantage OF gay marriage. That is a fundamental truth. My point was they COULD get married. But a heterosexual union offers a primal benefit to the human race; the continuance of it. There's no way around that. And for that reason, traditional unions should be offered benefits in return. Homosexual marriages may benefit society in many ways also, but when it all comes down to the bare root of existence, it cannot produce. Thus I would not favor giving the same benefits to gay marriage as heterosexuals. Now am I say no benefits should go to homosexual unions? No. But to be equal to heterosexual unions - they are not.
