I will try my hand at this, though I doubt I will win.

I was hearing a lot of hype about this new "iPod killer" and I thought that I would check it out. I did some digging, and I thought that it was better than the iPod, but no killer. I wanted it because it would not scratch as easily as an iPod, and because I thought that it would be hacked really soon and Linux would be put on it-boy, was I wrong. Anyways, since it was near Christmas time, there was a military discount for iPods. My mom ordered me one, then, when it came in, I went to the store, got some store credit, and got myself a zune.

In short: Because it does not scratch as easily/at all, and because I thought the hacks would be awesome.
