I don't really think it makes it compatable with the zune. It changes the format to be compatable with a zune.
It's a very long process though. Anyone ever try putting an hour and a half movie into WMM. It takes like half an hour to split up the files and then like an hour to produce the movie. I'd say its a big waste of time.
