Default Zune Software Won't Recognise Zune Device: Computer Does

This is a frustrating and annoying problem that I and many others have had. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium. My computer detects the Zune Device fine and it shows up in Device Manager with no errors. Drivers and firmware are up to date. However, the Zune Software says "No Device Connected".

I spent DAYS on the phone with Zune Customer Service and even returned the original device and bought a second to have the same problem. I have read and tried every fix to no avail. I was in hopes that the new Zune Software released on the 15th would fix the problem, but nope!

Today I discovered that if I plug the Zune Device in before I turn on the computer OR restart the computer with the device connected the Zune Software SEES IT!!! Woo Hoo! But still if I disconnect and try to reconnect the problem comes back. If I close the software and try to reopen it I get an error "Zune couldn't start. Make sure its not already open. If the problem persists, restart your computer andtry again." To fix this I start task manager and go to processes, Zune in running there even though it should be cloed. I highlight it and choose "end process". This allows the software to oen and detect the Zune.

I hope some of this information helps someone with this same problem, and maybe even gives a clue as to what the glitch is so that I don't have to restart my computer everytime I want to connect the Zune.
