If you have the time, do this:

- Check that a file actually has DRM, in the subscription folder. You can go into the file properties, and then the summary tab. "Protected" should say "Yes".

- Have him move that file you checked. Then, check the moved file the same way, to see if "Protected" now says "No".

If this works, then I have no explanation at all. He must have some magic pixie dust in his laptop. DRM ripping is not supposed to work in Vista.
