Rivinence is on a distinguished road
Default Zune USB Drive / *.avi conversion

My Setup.

-Zune 8G Version: 3.1(50)
-Zune Software Version: 3.1.620.0
-Windows 7 64bit

I followed the instruction below from Gadgets Cell Phones and Mp3 Players | Your Gadget so I could access my Zune like a USB drive.

1. Turn off the Zune software and unplug the Zune.

2. "Run" regedit.

3. Look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\
(with Zune software v2 you may have to edit ……\ControlSet002\…..)

*I modified the registry information in both ControlSet001 and ControlSet002*

4. Look for “PortableDeviceNameSpace....”. It should be contained in theVid_045e&Pid_0710\########_-_########_-_########_-_########\Device. Parameters within this string …\USB\ The ##’s listed here will be numbers and letters specific to your Zune.

5. Change these values:
a. EnableLegacySupport to 1
b. PortableDeviceNameSpaceExcludeFromShell to 0
c. ShowInShell to 1
After I had completed the above registry edit I rebooted my PC. Once I was back into Win7 I opened then closed the Zune Software and from "My Computer" I was able to access my Zune.

Here is were the Video conversion and the snag comes in. Hopefully someone here can figure out how to solve the snag.

I went through the file structure of the Zune and end up in one of its "3" Video Folders. Then I dragged and dropped an AVI file into that folder. To my surprise I was greeted with a pop-up to "convert or copy" the AVI file onto my Zune. I select convert and the conversion process started.

Here's where the snag comes in. When it is done converting and tries to copy the video over to the Zune I get the following message.
__________________________________________
| Cannot Copy vid.avi
|
| You do not have permission to create this item"
|
| ->Stop copying
| ->Skip file
|
| Cancel

This message happens with any file being transferred to the Zune.

So any suggestions?
