Why did people feel the need to hack PSP, PS/PS2, DS, xBox, etc.? No matter how extraordinary a system/device is, people will want to hack it regardless.
Charge, the Zune supports WMA lossless. I fail to see much point in supporting AVI. Most movies/videos that are in AVI format have to be reencoded anyways in order to fit the resolution of the Zune's screen and the bit rate limitation. The formats that the Zune supports is definitely sufficient for audio and video playback.
