Default [PREVIEW] Valgards Fate

Valgards Fate

Creator: Dirk Nordhusen (DiNoGames)

Version: 0.3.2 HOTFIX for Zune Firmware 3.1 users

Short instructions are as follows:

There are many many things that decide how the game interacts with Valgard. Especially the attributes of Valgard are important to improve. You can learn many things on my
Valgards Fate Website which is not complete yet, but already holds some valuable information about character skills, magic and monsters. I will add more information as soon as possible.

I added a fire rune to the inventory at startup of the game. Try to equip it and cast spells. This hopefully will make you stay alive a bit longer.

Here are the short instructions of the controls. If I forgot something, I will add it later.

Limitations of the preview version gameengine:
- Charging runes at shrines is not yet implemented
- only one magic spell yet.

The final version will have many more monsters, objects, levels and graphics.

DPad:
In Game screen: Hold to walk, tap to turn.
In any dialog: up/down choses options. Left/Right choses items in your inventory

Back-Button:
In Game screen: Open minimenu (minimap/character screen/inventory/save game (not available yet)
Close dialog screens. Be careful with the back button. Only tap it. Holding it will restart your Zune! (I can't change this, so don't ask)

Center Button:
In Game screen: Melee attack / Use world item (e.g. open chest) / use stairs / loot monsters, chests or broken items
In inventory: Use item / equip item
In character screen: set skillpoints
In shrine screen: chose selected choice (restore HP, get potions, charge runes or get skillpoint by sacrificing gold)

Play Button:
In Game screen: Cast (if a rune is equipped and charged)
In inventory: Drop item

Changes in V0.3.2 (11/30/2008):
- another reduction of memory usage. Hopefully this resolves all the crashes now

Changes in V0.3.1 (11/30/2008):
- The game crashed due to out of memory exceptions. The firmware 3.1 seems to restrict memory access for community games a bit more than 3.0 did. I cut out the background from the loading screen which freed up some memory. With this fix, the game is now able to run with firmware 3.1.
- I added some "key using logic" to the rathole. Some chests now need a key to be opened. But you can find all you need in the rathole itself. Its just to show this feature.
- PLEASE START A NEW GAME! DO NOT RESUME A GAME FROM VERSION 0.3!

Changes in V0.3 (11/29/2008):
- new ambient music in outdoor levels. This is a track from my mate Bernd König who also made the dungeon music. So no more copyright infringement at all (and I am very glad about it!). The outdoor music will be exchanged in the final version when I have bought some minutes of music from a professional musician.
- Options are working now (sound and music volume)
- there is a new option that lets you zoom the gameplay screen
- options are saved! You don't need to set them every time you start the game
- You can access the options from within the game now.
- A SAVE GAME option has been added
- At first startup you can start a new game. As soon as you enter a new region, the game is autosaved. A new menu entry is available from that moment on (resume game). You can start a new game anyway, which deletes the game in progress. I do not plan to add multiple saved games (although its possible).
- Health regeneration is lowered to the half (it was too much in 0.2 build)
- needed experience per level grows linear now. Before it grewed exponential.
- A visual glitch at some trees was fixed.
- You cannot pickup more than 9 items of the same category now (potions, keys, weapons or runes)
- if you drop items from your inventory, you create a pouch in the world that holds the dropped stuff... You can add more stuff to it or pick the contents up again later.
- You cannot hit dying monsters anymore, thus its not possible to get the monsters XP more than once.
- Stamina potions and + stamina enchantments of weapons now increase your MaxHP properly
- Some objects in the tomb level 2 were smoking... fixed now
- Monsters and containers drop weapons of an adequate level now.
- Monsters use their agility now, so they have a chance to parry your attacks

Changes in V0.2 (11/23/2008)- fireballs destroy destroyable objects now
- character generator creates skills that sum up to exactly 55 points, with a minimum of 10 points per skill
- Rats and goblins are weaker now
- You can restore health while walking now. But standing still restores health 3 times faster
- Tileset problem fixed in Region 4 (Chests should now be visible)
- Monsters have portraits now. When they are near, a picture of your foe pops up and shows his face, level and a health bar
- fixed the "transformation bug" which lets you change your shape after death
- No creature can have negative HP anymore.
