Did you use the ones in the text or in the pictures? The pictures are faulty, and no one on the Support Team has the skill or initiative to fix them so far.
Anyway, if you follow this, you should be able to fully clear the Zune:
Hold Back-Up to reset the Zune
When you see the Zune logo:
-Hold Back-Center-Left on a Zune 30
-Hold Back-Center-Play on a Zune 4/8/16/80/120
Connect to the computer to reload the firmware and media
