The backlight problem has been brought up at Microsoft Connect website several times (me included), and the answer is it's "by design" and they don't plan to change that. I just can't understand their logic of moval one of the most obvious and important power-saving feature on a handheld "by design". Well, I don't understand lots of things MS did (or did not do) to the zune, otherwise there weren't be this player ( and this thread ) at first place.

No... The
full release of XNA GS 3.0 is supposed to be released during the "holidays", which is speculated to mean around Christmas time. Full, not beta. They have plenty of time to complete it, unless they are understaffed.
You will have to wait and see if they add in that functionality or not. Until then, there is no use worrying about it. It will not change anything.
