I'm just a little confused, by "reinitialization" did you mean reinstallation? I'm just going to assume you did. While I agree that formatting your computer is the best way to get it working like new again, I think there's too much hassle with backing everything up and then reinstalling software, drivers, and adjusting settings. I think if you follow the things jmslew has written, and take care of your PC it shouldn't need a fresh install to run properly.

Aside from recently running disk cleanup for the first time, I do perform regular maintenance such as defragmentation of my hard drives, running spyware removers, and cleaning my registry. That being said, I haven't had any need to do a fresh install because my computer still performs very well.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong because I don't claim to be a definitive source on the subject. I'm just stating things from my own experience.
