I don't know how to make this any clearer...

If it has been going on for millions of years, then different species would be at different "levels" of evolution. Say an animal (such as the cow) has the evolutionary need for another stomach, the next generation of cows aren't born with an extra stomach, they'd be born with small begginings of a new stomach, which slowly grows over millions of years. Yet we don't see any animals with intermediary organs.
