I apologize if this has been asked, but I searched and didn't find this particular question. In the past few days, my Zune is not being recognized by the software. I connect it to the PC and the device turns on and charges. But the software doesn't recognize it. The "connected" icon on the bottom left of the screen reads, "No Zune device connected. Click to see settings." The past two times I've connected the device, I hear the usb sound disconnecting and connecting over and over for long periods of time.

Particulars: My zune is version 2.3 (1145). I use Windows XP. Things I've attempted include trying different USB ports, restarting the zune, restarting the pc, and turning the device off. I have searched briefly for a solution and have not found this particular issue. I've received no error messages. Any help anybody can offer is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
There's definetly something wrong here. If you hear the usb sound disconnecting and connecting, it means it's actually disconnecting and reconnecting.

Have you tried the zune on a different computer and see what happens? Have you tried other USB device on this computer other than your zune? If you did, what happens. Does the usb sound still repeat itself for a long time?

For zune software to recongnize the zune, the zune must be conected (stablily). Frequent connecting and disconnecting will preven to the zune being recongnized.

What you could do now when you want to sync is to use the wireless sync instead for now until the people in this forum help you fix your problem.
