That is a silly notion. That is like people stating "I'm just for Republicans", or "I'm just for Coca-Cola", ** cetera. One has to look at the issues from both sides to come to a consensus on where you stand. Listening to one side of an argument is tantamount to brainwashing.
Maybe it is because I am a Libertarian and learned over the years that Democrats = Republicans except for a less than 2% difference.
Our country does need a third party in the system like the days of when the Republican party was new. There were the Whigs, Democrats and Republicans and despite the problem issue of the time there was less worry about corrupt officials. Now with only two parties they can keep we, the people, lockstep to their motives by just shooting us back and forth between them.
Yet, to get the majority of the American people to even consider this is like asking them to cut an arm off because they believe so hard that our Nation was founded on a Two Party system and anything other than it will bring about unparalleled chaos.
Withdrawal is the only thing I don't agree upon because the last time the U.S. withdrew like in Vietnam, we ended up with Pol Pot and more dead Asians than while we there. Iraq was the same way, we ended up with more dead Kurds and Chaldeans than number of enemy combatants killed. American Pacifism kills more lives than it saves but hey...those people aren't American so who cares, right?
Sorry, I believe in the Special Forces motto "De Oppresso Liber" (To Free the Oppressed). After all, we are the only country in the world who has fought for all these other countries and only took enough land to bury our dead. We never conquered and added territory to our own despite populist opinion. Germany, Italy and Japan have not given territory to the U.S. after their defeat in World War 2. The U.S. did not take land from Korea outside of Military bases established to help defend the South from the North and China. No land has been taken from Iraq despite the media's view.
Abandoning my Kurdish and Chaldean friends to the dogs is just not the right thing to do. If you believe the U.S. is an occupying force there than damn it we should stay, occupy and protect the people. The insurgents are at least 80% foreign nationals seeking to play themselves off as Iraqi. If you believe we should never had messed with Saddam, please, please, please tell this fact to a Kurd or Chaldean, especially a Chaldean. After all their people only numbered in the 100,000 and thanks to that person who should have never been attacked they number in 10,000... I guess its alright since they aren't American.
If you believe it was all done for Oil, please, please, tell that to a Kurd or how about instead figure out where that oil has gone or even why Oil prices are rising since the U.S. seems to be taking the oil, right?
Rising fuel prices have nothing to do with Iraq, after all two little insignificant countries such as China and India using more Oil could have nothing to do with it.
Take a step back from the media and educate yourself first and foremost. Look at both sides of an argument and realize that it is time for REAL change and only by all standing together can it be achieved.
