Many have been recommending mp3Tag to help correct issues with tracks not importing, repeatedly syncing, and grouping into an album. These are some screenshots of a Various Artists CD, the mp3Tag settings, and how it appears in the Zune.
To get to options, go to the Tool menu and select Options.
To get to extended tags, select the tracks for which you want to see the tags, right click on them and select Extended Tags.

Please note that BAND is used for Album Artist. It may be hard to make out but for the track selected, BAND=Various Artists and ARTIST=Badfinger.
