To add to that, I think it may be a tribute to the artists and producers who make this music and spend hours, if not days, toiling over getting the sound just right. You spend a day getting a rift just right and then have it fed through a compressor and the messed up by an EQ and see how warm that makes you feel.
And I agree, while there is a small % of audiophiles, who require total control of their music, most of us don't care that much. but it seems audiophiles hate iPods...take a look at this:
iPod Classic....
especially the iPod Classic 160Gb and even
the iPod Touch....and it's
not the first time....
