Step Around the 3 Play Rule

As everyone knows, Microsoft removed the 3 day rule with the most recent update, now people have finally found a way around the 3 play rule too. The people over at ZuneScene found that if you change the genre to podcast, the file will be synced as a podcast. Podcasts have no limits when they are "squirted."

If you do this, you will lose the ability to play songs and organize them by genre on the Zune. To edit the tag, right click on the songs file in the explorer window, and go to properties.

Once in properties, click on Summary then on Advanced, when in there you will need to edit the genre field as I have here.

After doing all of this, you should be able to "squirt" the songs you have edited to other people and they will be able to listen to it as many times as they want too.

this is nothing new. You could do this with the old firmware by changing the files to .jpg formats since there's no DRM encoded into images either. Yay for the ZuneScene Pirates! [smiley=laugh]

jpgs can't be listened to right after being transferred. Unless you've magically found a way to rename file extensions on the zune itself. Next time, think before you try to sound smart; else you just come off as an ass.

and why do people still call the pad "squircle" and sending stuff "squirted" i have not scene that anywhere on zune.net. and isn't the pad called "zune pad"? why spread such stupid terms when thats not even what its officially called. (unless someone can post a link that proves otherwise, i'll shutup

I agree I hate the terms "squirt" and "squircle" - I think the "squirt" term came from one interview with MS's Steve Ballmer and the media ran with it. Also, the term "squircle" came from a ZuneScene article prior to Microsoft's official release and that term unfortunately stuck too...
