A year ago today, Zuneboards was created with the purpose
of "spreading love for Zune, and becoming one of the biggest Zune forums
available." Now, after a year, we have achieved those goals, and much,
much more.
On July 31st, 2006, Lpxxfaintxx welcomed the (soon to be)
masses to Zuneboards. It was a shaky, awkward time at first, since at the time
knowledge of the Zune was limited, and not many people even knew what it was.
When November 14th came around and the Zune was finally released, the site was a
flurry of activity and new members. Ten days later, the first Zune 'hack' was
developed, the HDD hack (Zune hard drive hack), which enabled files to be transferred
to the Zune while it's in sync mode.
The HDD hack was the first Zune hack of many to come from
Zuneboards. A few months later, on Valentines Day, the first zSkin was created.
zSkins allows users to change and customize the color of the Zune Software.
Towards the end of April, the Zune software was again modified; this time in
the form of the Multi-Extension support mod., which enables the Zune software
to convert many different file types, so that they can be played and/or synced
with the Zune device in the Zune program. A month later, only weeks apart three
new hacks/modifications were released. The zBooker program, which converts
books to JPG images and puts them in order, so they can be read on the Zune;
Disabled Zune marketplace, which temporarily disables the Zune Marketplace to
drastically increase the speed and performance of the Zune software; and the
Superior Zune Installation Program, SZIP for short. SZIP is a stripped-down
version of the Zune setup that allows you to install on (almost) any Windows
OS, install the Zune program at light speed, and greatly reduce your setup
errors.
Although our history may be marked by hacks and mods,
there's much more to the site. We have tons of Zune-ready media, including: TV
shows, movies, music, wallpapers, zBooks, and much more. We pride ourselves in
the amount of help and support we give to people that are having problems with
their Zune(s) or Zune software. In short, Zuneboards has always done it's best
to improve your Zune experience, and you all have shown your appreciation.
I'd like to thank the staff for helping to create this
wonderful site, because without them, we wouldn't have gotten this far or this
big. Show the staff some love, and let them know that their hard work is
appreciated. As much as credit as the staff is due, you guys, and the guests, the members
deserve so much more. You've been here since the beginning, helping us to
become what we are now, the largest and greatest Zune forum in the world.
Let’s take a minute to enjoy one of the first ever
threads here at Zuneboards.
