PCMag has said it best:
Apple is no longer the leader in the realm of hard drive–based players. In doing so, the new Zune 80 has received the PC Mag Editor's Choice! Read on!...
 ....there were no obvious champs in the hard disk–based portable media player space—until now. The iPod classic is a fine device, but its updates from the previous-generation iPod are mainly cosmetic....the Zune is simply more fun to use than the iPod, with more engaging software, better graphics, a larger screen, and wireless capabilities.......and overall fun-factor make it a better value than the iPod classic—and worthy of our Editors' Choice award....
Using the iPod Classic as a comparison for most of the article (which is understandable - the iPod has been the industry standard for so long), Tim Gideon writes a favorable, yet objective report of his findings of the new 80Gb Zune. He mentions some of the Zune's downside like the same screen resolution as the iPod, no movie selection on the Marketplace, and lack of EQ controls, but contends the larger screen does minimize squinting, the Marketplace is redone beautifully, and the premium earbuds which are included 'cure' the need for the EQ.
Apparently the model he reviews had a previous frimware (unreleased) that would not allow for wireless sync unless the computer was hardwired to the router, but since Microsoft fixed that issue by the time of release, PCMag has decided the Zune 80 worthy of its Editor's Choice! He gives kudos to the Microsoft Zune Team for their efforts which has produced a great product in the new Zune 80!
