First Impressions
Well when I first opened the soggy package box that held my freebie I wasn't expecting much. I mean like the description sounds so nice but it was free. Ergo, yeah I said ergo WHAT?, I didn't expect it to be like Altec speakers. Had 2.48 seconds of fun popping that air package thing though.

So yeah the packaging was alright, like I said before it was free so the price was what that caught my attention not the style or anything.
Well I opened it and I was impressed, it wasn't exactly crap quality and the material seemed pretty sturdy. Also it came with two AAA batteries. First thing I did was put my Zune 30 in the pouch and it fit PERFECTLY. I then closed the case and there was nothing bulging or any abnormality. Not bad for free speakers.

And then Pandora's box was opened... I stuck in the AAA batteries and turned on my Zune playing I Could Be Wrong by The Starting Line and the batteries ended up dead. I had to use my own batteries. I put in my own and then it worked. The volume on my Zune was at 14 and when I turned it on it was just DISTORTION DISTORTION DISTORTION CRAP DISTORTION DISTORTION. I cursed out in Korean (SHEBA SEKKI), yes I know Korean curses though I'm Chinese.
I ended up reading the Manual and it said something about turning down the Mp3 volume to 60% to avoid distortion. I turned it down and it the devil noises finally stopped when the Zune volume was at 10. Then I turned the speaker's volume to max. Then the distortions were back... SHEBA! I had to turn my Zune down to 8 to actually hear it clear. With the speaker's volume at max and the Zune at 8 the volume was STILL LOW. The volume of the speakers were equivalent to listening to someone's conversation on the phone. And no I am not exaggerating, the volume is lack of a better term.. crap.
If I could describe the speakers in one sentence:
Crap speakers but works well as a Zune carrying case, but then again it might be just my Zune because it recently dropped into a puddle of dirty water..

Overview
Pro

Zune 30 fits perfectly into pouch so Zune 80 would fit just as well, not sure about Zune 4/8 though.
Design was pretty good, "socially acceptable"
FREE (if you follow the link at the top)

Cons
Volume too too too DAMN low

NO CONS!!

Rating: 2/10: The volume was just too low so it rendered the meaning of "portable speakers" useless.

New Rating: 10/10:  With my battery problem fixed these are amazing, a must buy even if you have to pay $30.

Do Buy: If you think that the speakers were just a problem for my Zune, give it a try for yourself. It's free Do buy if you're looking for some really nice portable speakers for free!

Don't Buy: If you can't think for yourself and you rely on my review, HEH Just kidding but this is a risk. I don't know if it's just my Zune or it's for everyone's Zune but the volume is just too low. There is no don't buy, you must buy this.. It's free and it's really good and you have NOTHING to lose.

Second Impression

Ever since reading all these comments on how they didn't really get distortion I decided to give these speakers another try.  This time I used better batteries and what can I say, it worked!

These quality was amazing for such a small portable speaker.  It was far from what I've expected for free speakers!

I'm gonna add a video revie soon.

Well let me first say it was free! Haha ya get what ya pay for, but I can't complain with it at all. I got mine today in the mail my batteries were dead also but I warmed them up in my hand and now they work fine. The speakers do sound crappy with everything turned up all the way.
But I don't have to keep mine as low as you say you do for yours. I can turn mine up to about 16 or 17 before it starts to crackle.

For free merchandise I give it a 6/10.
Would never pay $29.99 for this thing though. I tihnk I might try to put a new speaker in there too.

I wonder if you could replace the speaker at all...? Mines coming in a few days, so i hope it's not too bad. I took that FREE offer up. I was kinda hoping to use it on trips n' that sort of stuff.

I'm not sure if you can replace the speaker it seems pretty closed up. I just ordered another one though so I'll take a look into it.

I got mine, and it came with dead batteries. When I put in good batteries, at 15 on my Zune, and 3/4 on the volume nob, it was louder than my Laptop, with no distortion. I cranked it to full and 20, still no distortion, I love them, and am going to try to get another.

I just got mine today. I have a Zen Vision M, and I can have both the player and the speakers on full blast and it works great. Only thing that was uncool about it was the placing of the batteries. If you put them in normally, it would not work. Apperently for mine to work, I had to have the battery and the spring touching the bottom of the battery area. I had to force it down, but I believe the troubles with it are over from now on. So cheers.

Great product for a freebie.

I just got mine and it works perfectly. Sounds just a little distorted at max volume on both the Zune and the speaker, but of course, that happens anyways xP
The vibration at max volume is intense. My hand still feels weird after 5 minutes of it off.
For being free, I'd say it's amazing. Yay for Kensington

Got mine today and they work great. Didn't go through the hoops of setting up new google accounts so I paid the $10 each for them.

It's a great value for a simi-hard case along and the speakers are a bonus.
Darryl - good deal good speakers   | 24.0.64.xxx | 2008-03-23 08:42:58
just got the speakers yesterday, let me tell you i dont know where all the negative reviews are coming from, number one they were free, number 2 to be honest these speakers sound good, maybe these people think the speakers are going to replace a home entertainment system, but for what they are they put out a real good rich sound, no distortion and my zune 80 fits in the case good with room for my headphones too! If you havent done it yet get yours for free.

Got mine today, and it is amazing. No distortion at all on mine, so I'm glad you cleared that up.

I lifeguard over the summer so between the radio and shuffle, this will entertain me all day.
