Zune phone an absolute "no", Zune Marketplace on WinMo "yes"

In a recent interview with the Financial Post, Robbie Bach, the president of Microsoft’s entertainment and devices division, shot down any remaining hope of a "Zune Phone" stating,

Zune HD isn’t that far away from being a phone and no, we’re not doing a phone, so please don’t start those rumours.

He did, however, vaguely state that the Zune will be brought to Windows Mobile.

So, we have to find broad markets where we can expand, and certainly bringing Zune to Xbox is an example of that. But it’s very clear that the portable music and video marketplace will end up being part of the phone.

This isn’t that much of a suprise especially with the recent news of Xbox Live on Windows Mobile. Bringing Zune to Windows Mobile seems like the next logical step.

Gatapi	what if they made an attachment for the zune hd that made it into a phone? Technically, it wouldn't be a zune phone, but merely a zune hd with a microphone and speaker.. o.O...He did say that it's not far from being one!

No, not WinMo on Zune, Zune On WinMO.

About the Zune Phone thing... all we need is a microphone and skype/google voice (when google adds the VOiP service to it)

-teardrop- man i was looking so forward to the zune HD. now this is hows it gonna result. ppl dont wanna buy a huge expensive phone plus fees for something they could get cheaper. I like my phone and i use it for what its meant for. not all this music and browsing and stuff. thats what my zune is for and it does a pretty good job for half the cost of a phone

BrutalChimactic	Thats disappointing.. A Zune phone wouldve been awesome! It seems like it wouldve been a smart move on Microsofts side to counter the iphone. But wat can u do other than sit and wait to see wat comes our way

tfreak10108	That is so stupid! There are PLENTY of people who want, and are willing to pay for a Zune phone! There are people saying "I WILL give my hard earned money, to Microsoft for a Zune Phone" and they refuse? That has to be the dumbest decision ever! I cant stop wondering when Microsoft will STOP doing what ever they want, and START doing what the consumers want.

Those people that are saying they WILL buy a Zune phone are obviously not enough to sway Microsoft to make one. The cost of making one, setting up the plans etc are too much.

I love the Zune HD, but a Zune HD phone is just a stupid idea.
