‘Turtle’ and ‘Pure’ Phones? [Rumor]

It looks like the Project Pink rumors just won’t die, but as engadget points out, MS could be leaning more to make a self-branded phone than ever before thanks to WinMo partners like HTC and Motorola jumping on the Google Android bandwagon.

Apparently, it’s been leaked to 9to5mac (I know, not the surest place to find MS news) that two phones, one codenamed "Turtle" and "Pure," are being placed into the pipeline to emerge in 2010 - possibly for CES? They’re said to be co-branded with Sharp and utilizing the acquired Danger corporation’s app store…

One device is "squircle" in shape like the past Zune’s buttons. The slide out keyboard houses the mic at the bottom and it is meant to be open when being used as a phone. This device is code-named "Turtle" and looks like a dressed up Motorola QA1.

The other device is more traditionally-shaped candybar slider and is code-named "Pure". The devices had previously been rumored to be carried on Verizon but we haven’t heard anything more in this area.

They also cryptically mention a tablet device but give little than a weird clue… anyone know what they mean? They say they have images that they may post on twitter or upon request.

Rest assured, we’ll keep our ears open for any more information…

Creative Zune	well if they names it "SideKick "Turtle",that alone would guarantee them success among the teenage population...

Aisorik	Pure isn't by any chance the HTC Pure On AT&T? We’ve got the goods on some upcoming AT&T smartphones from HTC and Garmin-ASUS : Boy Genius Report This one is just an AT&T branded touch diamond 2 running winmo 6.5.

"Pure" is just a codename... just like "Argos" was Zune's codename before they picked the marketing name they'd go with... (or "Draco" for the Zune v2, or "Scorpio" for the Flash Zunes)

Dude, Warhawk would have been such a better name!!! Thats what they should name this "Zune Phone"

Kohkane	I think companies should just stick with their codenames. The codenames usually sound SOOO much better than than what the provider chooses for it.
