A patent filed by Microsoft shows a new interface for a mobile device. Could this be something Zune could be getting in future generations or firmware updates? While the images definitely look like a mobile phone, the patent does leave room for other mobile scenarios as well as the Xbox 360 Live environment. And Apple fans can't stand it? More after the break...

Yes, that''s the non-American way to spell "rumor." But, with that Canadian release right around the corner, the interwebs are buzzing this morning on speculation that an international release of the Zune outside of the continental Americas could come as soon as 2009. While that may be a bummer to our cross-Atlantic neighbors who may have heard otherwise, remember this is just a rumor and needs to be taken with a grain of NaCl. We'll let you know as soon as any details come out, but Microsoft is being tight-lipped about this stating, “Microsoft does not comment on rumour or speculation.”

Microsoft is now charging for the engraving of designs on the Zune Originals. The prices as of now is $10 for the Tattoo Series, and $15 for the Artist Series. You can still have custom text engraved for free, but personally I'd much rather dish out $10-$15 for some pretty neat engravings. Microsoft has not made any announcements on the details of the price change. Hopefully, they will be rolling out some new colors soon.

So if keying in letters to form strings called words, or simply clicking your mouse has become too much for your laziness to handle, don't worry! One Voice Technologies has created a voice activated software, called VoiceTunes, that allows you to simply speak the song, artist, or album you want to hear so you can veg-out and listen to your Zune tunes.
"Just speak a command and VoiceTunes instantly plays your music no matter how large your music collection might be. Playing music has never been easier - or nearly this cool." - Adam Fitch, Director of Sales at One Voice Technologies So for a mere $29.95, you will never have to type or click your mouse again...at least to listen to your Zune music. No this software only works with media software...no it won't type your term paper.
